PLAYING HLELO ON ‘UZALO’

Ngcobo has encouraged young women to walk away from abusive relationships as her character did on the show.

“Don’t stay in an abusive relationship. Walk away, run if needs be.”

Hlelo is a hustler who had to hustle for everything in life. She’s been wandering the streets, basically as a hobo, and grew a thick skin.

She’s lived a poverty-stricken life and got rescued by Baby Cele’s character, Gabisile from her near-death experience.

Hlelo parted ways with Gabisile after she sold her baby and killed her baby-daddy and abuser, Mthunzi.

Viewers were devasted when Hlelo and Gabisile’s friendship fell apart because they wanted Gabisile to help revive Hlelo’s hopes, dreams, and goals.
