The much-awaited third offering to the Jurassic World trilogy; Dominion comes to cinemas in June 2022. But the series prologue – which takes place 65 million years before the first film – has just been released to the public.

THE PROLOGUE: WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO SEE

The prologue was originally introduced to as a trailer in IMAX theatres a few months ago. However it has recently become available to the rest of the world

Here’s everything you need to know about Jurassic World prologue;

  • The new feature is not part of the Jurassic World trilogy itself but is separate, original content.
  • The prologue turns back the clock 65 million years ago to to experience the world before humans existed – and offers a glimpse of a world in which dinosaurs are living among us.
  • You can expect to see seven new species of dinosaurs that have never been seen in a Jurassic film before. These prehistoric creatures were developed by visual effects experts Industrial Light & Magic.

JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION

The third film in the Jurassic World trilogy sees the return of old faces Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard star as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing. They are joined by Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum, who reprise their roles as Dr. Ellie Sattler, Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ian Malcolm.

Although filmmakers have yet to unveil a trailer, they have claimed that the franchise is one of the biggest in the history of cinema.

To date, Jurassic films have earned more than $5 billion (R79,5 billion) at the worldwide box office.

But Dominion is not the last we’ll see from the Jurassic World franchise. According to producer Frank Marshall, Dominion would instead mark “the start of a new era”, in which humans have to adjust to dinosaurs being on the mainland.
