Eastern Cape-born actor Toka Mtabane discusses Khaya’s evolving storyline in season two of Showmax’s ‘Youngins’

Fan-favourite actor Toka Mtabane has returned to the second season of Youngins to portray the handsome and popular high schooler, Khaya.

TOKA MTABANE AS KHAYA IN SEASON TWO

The Youngins star Toka Mtabane reveals to Showmax that he wasn’t entirely surprised by how much people love Khaya.

“When I first got the brief for this character, I immediately knew this was the show for me. So, I wasn’t entirely surprised by how much people love Khaya.”

Mtabane is incredibly humbled by the support and grateful to see viewers rooting for him. He adds that being on Youngins has been amazing.

“The show has had such a positive impact on me and people are really starting to notice the talent. As an actor on the rise, you’re always looking for that big break, but the timing doesn’t always align. Often, you wait for opportunities to come your way. With Youngins, I feel like it chose me,” says the actor.

He also reveals that Khaya has definitely grown in season two. He’s trying to find himself and, as you know, he’s very impulsive.

MORE STARS JOIN ‘YOUNGINS’

The Youngins actor Toka Mtabane stars opposite former Rhythm City actress Kealeboga Masango who plays his girlfriend, Buhle.

They are also joined by former The River actor Thabiso Ramotshela who portrays the character of Mahlatse.

While rising star Ayakha Ntunja plays Mahlatse’s girlfriend Amo and Lebohang Lephatsoana plays Mahlatse’s best friend, Tumelo.

They are joined by Keneilwe Matidze as Pearl “Miss SA” Buthelezi, Thabile Tau as Sefako, Amo Telekelo as Palesa and Tshepo Matlala as Tshepo.

The Showmax drama series is a Tshedza Pictures production is set at a fictional boarding school named Olifantsfontein High. 

The second season of Youngins is available on Showmax with new episodes on Fridays.
