Kabzela has been Cobra’s best friend since season one when the pair met in the fictional township called Refiloe.

Sebogodi will star opposite Winnie Ntshaba and Presley Chweneyagae who portrays the fan-favourite character of Thuso “Cobra” Mokoena.

The actor also recently starred in e.tv’s popular fashion telenovela, House of Zwide as the villiounous Kopano.

Cobrizi will premiere on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) in early 2025.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT ‘THE RIVER’ SPIN-OFF

The multi-award-winning TV show, The River spin-off series will be premised around Presley Chweneyagae’s character Cobra.

Sowetan reports that the 13-episode series titled Cobrizi will premiere in March 2025. The show is produced by Tshedza Pictures duo Phathutshedzo Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon who produced the original telenovela.

The show focuses on Cobra who moves to the inner-city Johannesburg. He unexpectedly finds love while on a quest to do right to his youngest child.

Shirley Adonisi, director of local entertainment channels at M-Net says: “Cobra’s story resonated with our Mzansi Magic viewers because of the way it presented the glamorous lives of the Dlamini-Dikanas compared to the struggling Mokoenas. It’s a story of hope, resilience, and community.”

“Presley brought tremendous depth and humour to the character and this is a way to explore this tortured man’s world and see if his anger could be focused into tenacity to help him try to create a better life for himself,” adds Adonisi.
