‘Ideal performer’? Rihanna to headline Super Bowl halftime show
Rihanna has officially been selected to perform at the highly-anticipated Super Bowl halftime show in February 2023.
Award-winning singer and businesswoman Rihanna has been absent from the music scene since the release of her 2016 album, Anti. The Work hitmaker trended on Twitter on Sunday 25 September after it was announced that she would be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show in February 2023.
This year, hip-hop stars Dr Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and singer Mary J Blige performed during the Super Bowl halftime show.

RIHANNA ANNOUNCED AS SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW PERFORMER
Taking to Instagram on 25 September, Rihanna confirmed that she would be the headline act during the Super Bowl halftime show next year. The 34-year-old confirmed the news by posting a hand holding an American football.
In a statement sent to Variety, Grammy-winning rapper and Roc Nation boss Jay-Z praised the singer as a self-made woman in both business and entertainment.
“We’re excited to partner with Rihanna, Rock Nation and the NFL to bring music and sports fans a momentous show – what an incredible artist for the inaugural Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats.

Following the news of Rihanna taking the stage at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2023, tweeps are excited that the Barbados-born singer is returning to the stage.
“Rihanna kinda has too many hits to be sharing a halftime stage like she can handle that sh*t herself,” wrote one tweep.
“Rihanna is the IDEAL superbowl performer, the catalogue of hits is crazy,” wrote another tweep.
“When I hear Rihanna’s voice after six whole years, the blood that will rush to my veins. I’ll just cry. I don’t even know dear God.”

WILL THE SINGER PERFORM NEW MUSIC?
Earlier this year, Rihanna confirmed that she would be releasing new music for her fans soon. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the singer said she has not forgotten about new music.
“My fans would kill me if they waited this long for a lullaby,” she said.
