‘Scandal!’ viewership increases after expanding episode offering

E.tv’s longest running soapie, ‘Scandal!’ had a slight increase in viewership after expanding its episode offering in July.

E.tv’s popular soapie, Scandal! saw an increased viewership between June and July.

‘SCANDAL!’: VIEWERSHIP

The Broadcast Research Council of SA (BRCSA) figures reveal that Scandal!‘s viewership grew in July.

The July figures reveal that the show received 3.6 million, while it pulled 3.2 million viewers in June.

This comes the e.tv soapie expanded its episode offering, by airing seven days on the 19:30 timeslot in July.

Scandal! became the first South African soapie to air daily with brand new episodes broadcasting from Mondays to Sundays last month.

The e.tv soapie currently competes with Mzansi Magic’s My Brother’s Keeper and SABC1’s Skeem Saam.

It remains in third place after House of Zwide with 4.6 million viewers while Isitha: The Enemy is second with 3.7 million.

‘SKEEM SAAM’ DEFEATS E.TV SOAPIE

The e.tv soapie, Scandal! is still trailing behind SABC1’s educational soapie, Skeem Saam which received 4.3 million viewers in July.

The SABC1 soapie is currently third place after Generations: The Legacy with 4.7 million views while Uzalo maintains first position with 5.6 million views.

Scandal! lost its signature first position in March when the SABC1 soapie debuted on the 19:30 timeslot.
