R5 MILLION BENTLEY BENTAYGA IMPOUNDED IN CAPE TOWN
On his X account, the Cape Town Mayor tweeted an update about a luxury Bentley that had been spotted without a license plate.
“This vehicle has been impounded by Cape Town Traffic Services,” the mayor tweeted.
He warned city residents: “Don’t drive in Cape Town with no plates, don’t ignore the law. You will be caught.”
Earlier this month, X user @WhiteLionII1 posted pics of the rose gold Bentley Bentayga that he claimed was owned by a lawless driver.
The car was bought from Pharoah Auto Investments, a luxury vehicle company known for its multi-million rand rides. According to Cars.co.za, the car is priced between R5 million and R7 million.

The tweep posted: “Same crowd as the McLaren that crashed yesterday. Guy in his early 20’s drives this car. Always parks on the sidewalk and [receives a] R1000 fine every day. Doesn’t bother them in the least. They throw the fine in the street, go out, and parks on the sidewalk again.
“They either don’t pay or they don’t mind paying R1000 every day. Brand new car & almost every panel has been scratched/dented. Rules don’t seem to apply to them”.
STRICT ACTION AGAINST SPEEDING SUPERCARS
Meanwhile, the DA’s Federal Council Chair Helen Zille has acknowledged concerns from a local resident about the increase in speeding supercars in Cape Town.
According to the Cape Argus, Zille responded to Grant Richardson, who approached the city to clamp down on drag racing along the Atlantic Seaboard strip, which had resulted in many accidents.
Over the last decade, Richardson had written several letters to authorities, attaching photographs and videos of the vehicles as proof.

In her response, Zille noted the interventions of law enforcement and Cape Town City traffic officials to curb the illegal practice. She wrote in an email: “I have gone into the matter. And I understand that there have been several interventions by the City Traffic Control team, including dedicated interventions on Sunday every night when many problems occur.”
Zille also acknowledged that the resident had been contacted by the City’s Safety and Security’s Mayco Member, JP Smith, and ward councillor Nicola Jowell in an effort to find solutions to uphold the by-laws.
According to the City of Cape Town, residents are advised to report incidents of drag racing to traffic officials on their emergency portal.
