Nadia Nakai reveals why she didn’t attend MMAs to support AKA
‘Naaa Mean’ hitmaker Nadia Nakai revealed why she did not attend the Metro Music Awards to support late boyfriend, slain rapper AKA.
Slain rapper AKA was the biggest winner at the Metro FM Music Awards held on – his girlfriend, rapper Nadia Nakai revealed that the Forbes family asked her to come along, but she thought it should be a moment for him and the Megacy.

AKA WINS BIG AT THE METRO MUSIC AWARDS
Rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA was the biggest winner of the night at the 17th Metro FM Music Awards (MMAs). The slain rapper was nominated in six categories and scooped four awards.
AKA’s parents Lynn and Tony Forbes, along with his daughter Kairo Forbes, who he shares with DJ Zinhle, received his awards on his behalf. The rapper was shot dead outside of Wish Restaurant on Florida Road, Durban on 10 February.
Kairo won hearts as she sang while receiving one of her dad’s awards. While AKA’s dad Tony freestyle when receiving another one of his son’s awards.
The Metro FM Music Awards was hosted by Lerato Kganyago and Katlego Maboe. The awards show took place for the first time in five years after it was marred by the controversy of alleged corruption.

NADIA NAKAI: ‘I’M THERE IN SPIRIT’
While the Forbes family and Kairo made headlines, Nadia was seemingly watching from home. Taking to Twitter, she revealed that the Forbes family had asked her to come with them but she thought the moment should have been between them and AKA’s fans.
“They did ask me to come but I thought this moment should be just between them and the Megacy. I’m there in spirit tho. ❤️ will be watching!” she tweeted.
