‘American dream’: Elon Musk posts clip of white Saffa in US [video]
Elon Musk posted a clip of a white Afrikaner farmer who sought asylum in the US – but Saffas have accused the man of being a ‘scammer’.
Elon Musk has posted a video of a white South African farmer who successfully sought asylum in the US. This comes amid President Donald Trump’s offer of refugee status to Afrikaners.
According to the South African Chamber of Commerce in the United States, they have received over 20 000 queries from South Africans hoping to emigrate.

In a tweet, Elon Musk shared a video of a white South African who had sought asylum in the US in 2019.
The man – Jason Barlett – claimed he had escaped the country as he had experienced “traumatic events.”
He said: “South Africa is the rape capital of the world; it is one of the most crime-ridden countries in the world. The current government systematically goes out and murders the white farmers. The very people that feed them are being tortured and brutally slaughtered on a daily basis”.
“What happens in South Africa is pure evil”.
Bartlett claimed he sought legal asylum in the US and now works several jobs, one of which includes farming cattle and sheep.
“I came over here with a few hundred dollars and a suitcase.
“I support the American flag and the American people…We wanted to come to America and live the American Dream, and by the grace of God, we have achieved that”.
‘SCAMMER’?
While Elon Musk has no doubt taken the South African refugee at their word, others are calling him out for being a “con artist.”
According to social media commentator Bianca van Wyk, Jason allegedly swindled South Africans – who believed he was highlighting “white genocide” in the US- out of R350 000 via a GoFundMe campaign.
In a TikTok video, she said, “After collecting the money…he disappeared, and now he’s back on the scene. There were a few questions about what happened to people’s money.”

Bianca then read out comments from Saffas, who demanded to know what had happened to their donations.
She continued: “South Africans fell for the scam. We must realise that Jason is the kind of South African refugee that the USA deserves”.
