‘Available to join any team’: Long-serving Hugo Nyame confirms Royal AM exit
Cameroonian goalkeeper Hugo Nyame is making headlines after he confirmed his exit from Royal AM after six years with the club.
It never rains but pours for troubled Royal AM, which is yet to pay its players their December salaries.
Against the news, the publication established that MaMkhize’s team is now under the curatorship of SARS.
MAMKHIZE’S WOES WITH SARS TAKE A TOLL ON ROYAL AM
The curatorship comes after the multimillionaire failed to settle her tax debt. Confirmed reports have it that she owes the taxman around R40 million in unpaid taxes.
Her tax woes have undoubtedly affected her businesses, with her club being the most affected. Her woes with SARS saw the team’s funds frozen.
This undoubtedly led to the non-payment of salaries for players and staff in December 2024.
The publication has since established that Jaco Venter has been appointed curator, overseeing the club’s assets and operations.
However, MaMkhize has shed more light on Royal AM’s woes with a press statement.
Part of her shared press release reads, “The club’s management team, led by our CEO and General Manager, has been working diligently with the curator to secure the necessary permissions to release funds for salary payments.
“It has always been the ethos of Royal AM to prioritise the well-being of our personnel, and we remain dedicated to upholding that principle despite the current challenges.”
LONG-SERVING STAR HUGO NYANE NOW A FREE AGENT
With the club battling financially, confirmed reports have it that its long-serving star has left it.
Cameroonian goalkeeper Hugo Nyame, who has been with the club since 2018, confirmed his exit to the media.
He has it that he left the crisis-laden club Royal AM in December when his contract expired.
He said to the media, “For now, what is important is to mention that I’m no longer with Royal AM after seven years with the club.”
The former Royal AM star said he left the club when his contract expired. “My contract ended December 31, and I’m now a free agent and available to join any team,’ said Nyame.
However, he has been training with the club to remain sharp and fit as he looks for another club.
The 38-year-old goalkeeper, who joined Royal AM in 2018 from Angolan outfit Progresso do Sombizanga, also said he cannot discuss Royal AM’s woes.
‘I prefer to leave anything related to Royal AM to those that are still contracted to the club,’ he said.
