Jay Badza, the founder of the brand and marketing agency Orchard On 25, has passed away at the age of 38.

News of his death was announced by his agency on Monday, leaving many in the industry mourning his untimely loss.

His agency, Orchard On 25, announced the news of his passing on Monday and did not disclose the circumstances surrounding his cause of death.

“A true visionary and passionate leader in the public relations and marketing industry—affectionately known to many as Mr. Jay—he poured his heart into elevating young creatives. He wasn’t just a mentor but a guiding light who nurtured countless individuals and ignited their potential.

“His unwavering commitment to innovation and the relentless pursuit of excellence not only transformed the industry: it transformed lives,” reads part of the statement.

His family has requested privacy during this difficult period, and details of his memorial and funeral service will be shared when available.

A TRAILBLAZER IN THE INDUSTRY: A LOOK AT HIS CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Originally from Dobsonville, Soweto, Jay dropped out of a Bachelor of Arts in Motion Picture for Marketing. He later completed a BBA in Marketing Management at IMM.

The award-winning PR extraordinaire was a significant figure in the industry, leading numerous successful campaigns and managing several prominent brands.

He also worked with and mentored young creatives and top talents, including Bonang Matheba, South Africa’s beloved media personality.

Jay managed Bonang for five years as a Business Director and her manager at DNA Brand Architects. He was also featured on the star’s reality show, Being Bonang. During his appearances, he showcased his professional relationship with her.
