Like many South Africans, Rachel Kolisi – the estranged wife of Springbok captain Siya Kolisi – has had to wait hours, practically the whole day, at her nearest Home Affairs office.

The influencer and philanthropist is gearing up for a family holiday to Australia, where she has had to sort out some last-minute travel documents.

It’s unclear if Siya will be joining them.

RACHEL KOLISI’S HOME AFFAIRS DRAMA

In her Instagram Stories, Rachel Kolisi – who is mom to Nic and Keziah – revealed how she and Siya Kolisi’s sister Liphelo had been struggling to collect their visitor visa.

“Home Affairs will be the death of us,” she shared in a post with the teen, whom she has taken as her own child.

After leaving to run a quick errand, Rachel returned to Liphelo, who was still waiting.

“We are still here,” she shared in a post just before 18:00. Liphelo added that she had been waiting from 06:00 for assistance.

“We’ve been running up and down. We must phone this and that one”, the young girl said.

Rachel advised her followers to visit Home Affairs in the late afternoon during the festive season.

“Come around 3”, she added.

EXTENDED FESTIVE HOURS

Meanwhile, the Department of Home Affairs has announced its extended operating hours during the festive season.

From 10-20 December, offices around the country will be open from 08:00 to 18:00.

Minister Leon Schreiber said in a statement: “These extended operating hours and process improvements are part of our commitment to delivering dignity to all our clients.

“We understand that many people are travelling over the festive period. Which is why Home Affairs is going the extra mile to ensure South Africans get the documents they need to spend precious time with friends and family.”
