‘Old dog, new tricks’: Tito Mboweni experiments with cookbook & chopper
Tito Mboweni attempted to shake things up in the kitchen – but how did his food fare amongst his Twitter followers?
After much criticism, Tito Mboweni has decided to accept the help and advise of others when it comes to the kitchen department.
The former minister of finance is known for his entertaining Sunday cooking sessions, which always seem to involve a truckload of garlic, protein that has been “drowned” in water, and a lackluster serving of pap.
SHAKING THINGS UP IN THE KITCHEN
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Tito Mboweni revealed that he would now be using a recipe book to cook his meal – a tin of pilchards.
To prepare the dish, he would be using the cookbook as well as a garlic chopper, which was a gift from a friend, che claimed. He tweeted: “Apparently my cooking needs some professional assistance”.

But judging from the comments under his posts, tweeps were not convinced he knew how to operate either.

@ntuli_zebus: “This chopping should be unlawful going forward”
@siniketomavuso: “Please just get yourself a wife…those onions!”
@reubensekgobela: “Talk about an old dog and new tricks”

TITO MBOWENI CLAPS BACK AT FASHION CRITICS
Cooking is not the only things Tito Mboweni is facing flack for.
The former Reserve Bank governor has also been mocked over his fashion choices – including a dusty pair of shoes and a leather jacket dating back to the year of South Africa’s first democratic election
But Tito was unfazed by the commentary and clapped back: “What is the obsession with these @clarksshoes . They are comfortable!”.
He also boasted about playing his part in sustainable fashion
Tito Mboweni added in another tweet: “A leather jacket is your friend forever! I bought this one in Cape Town, in 1994. It’s still here!”
