Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, shared key insights into the ongoing investigation into the murders of AKA and Tibz.
KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, has hinted that the investigation into the murders of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane is making significant progress.
Speaking in an interview with eNCA, Mkhwanazi revealed that while the investigation is ongoing, the police are uncovering a clearer picture of what transpired. They are confident that they will soon expose the mastermind behind the killings.
The Pursuit of the Mastermind
Mkhwanazi explained that investigators are continuing their efforts to piece together the details surrounding the tragic deaths of AKA and Tibz. The Commissioner highlighted that although they have arrested several suspects, their focus remains on uncovering those who orchestrated the killings.
“Very interesting investigation that is unfolding behind the scenes,” Mkhwanazi shared with eNCA. “You know me, I cannot talk about things until I come to court. So, we continue with the investigations. I’m not going to tell you to what extent we are, but there’s a nice picture that is coming together, which is quite interesting.”
He went on to add that when the case goes back to court, compelling evidence will be presented, revealing the true extent of the planning behind the murders. “When the case is in court, there’s some interesting evidence that is going to be shared that will make the public realize to what extent people go in planning to kill someone,” Mkhwanazi stated.
Seven Suspects Arrested
As of now, police have arrested a total of seven men in connection with the murders. These arrests include Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni, and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande.
They all face multiple charges. The five men remain in police custody as the investigation unfolds.
In addition, two more suspects—Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande—were arrested in Eswatini.
However, they are currently fighting their extradition to South Africa. Mkhwanazi confirmed that teams have travelled to Eswatini to continue the extradition process. He expressed confidence that the Eswatini court will rule in South Africa’s favor, IOL reports.
Puzzle Coming Together
Mkhwanazi explained that as the investigation progresses, police will uncover more about the individuals who orchestrated the murders.
He acknowledged that many of the suspects may try to deny their involvement. He, however, assured the public that the evidence would ultimately force them to confirm who was behind the killings.
“The picture is emerging as we are putting this puzzle together. We are starting to see something very interesting that is beyond the ones that are arrested,” he explained.

The brutal deaths of AKA and Tibz shocked the South African public and devastated the local music community.
CCTV footage of the shooting sparked intense public interest. Many speculated about the identity of the perpetrators and the motives behind the crime.
