Phalaborwa residents woke on Monday morning to a terrifying sight at one of the shopping centres in town.
According to witnesses a fire is currently raging through the Eden Square Mall.
At the time of publishing it’s uncertain how the fire started or what the cause of the blaze is.
According to the Limpopo-based community newspaper the Far North Bulletin, the fire suppression system in the centre malfunctioned due to the fact there was no water.
“There was a cable fault last night and in order to work on the lines, the workers accidentally burst a water line. They switched off the water to be able to work on the fault.”
