South African Police Service (SAPS) Ladysmith groundsman NS Dubazane walked away with a car and cash at the 10th annual National Excellence Awards, SAPS said in a statement.

Dubazane was recognised for his dedication to his work and always doing it with excellence. According to the statement, the winner is the reason the SAPS in Ladysmith is ranked the cleanest in KwaZulu-Natal. Check out the lovely pictures below.

SAPS LADYSMITH GROUNDSMAN WINS A CAR AND CASH PRIZE

Dubazane won himself a brand new car and a cash prize of R20 000. This is after he was voted this year’s Laureate Award winner. According to the statement, this is the 46-year-old’s first time owning a vehicle.

That’s not all, the dedicated SAPS Ladysmith groundsman also won another award. He “was also crowned overall winner in the Admin Employee of the Year level 2-4 category”.

The statement further stated: “He maintains SAPS Ladysmith’s surroundings, consistently ranked as KwaZulu-Natal’s cleanest police station.”

SAPS NATIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARDS

The SAPS National Excellence Awards, where the SAPS Ladysmith groundsman was awarded, are held annually in January. This year’s 10th edition of the ceremony was held on 26 January 2025 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban.

“Every year in January the South African Police Service gathers to celebrate hard work, sacrifice, dedication and commitment of its hard-working men and women in blue who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve and protect the people of South Africa.

“This annual event encourages innovation and fosters a culture of excellence within the organisation to ensure all employees continue to deliver professional services to communities,” explained the statement.
