Rain is expected to affect parts of Gauteng starting Monday and continuing throughout the week, providing much-needed relief after a prolonged heatwave.

Since early December, many areas of the country have experienced consecutive heatwaves. However, this week, rain is forecasted as temperatures are expected to drop to the mid-20s in Gauteng and surrounding provinces.

The South African Weather Services noted that severe weather is anticipated, bringing thunderstorms that could result in heavy rain, hail, and strong winds, along with the possibility of localized flooding. In Pretoria, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 29°C, with a 60 percent chance of precipitation. In Johannesburg, there is also a 60 percent chance of thundershowers, with temperatures around 26°C.
