Joaquin Niemann is doing everything he can to play his way into the US Open.

The Chilean golfer fired a brilliant final-round 65 on Sunday to capture LIV Golf Singapore, his second individual victory of the year, to move into first place in the LIV Golf standings.

A player ranked in the top three of the season-long standings, not otherwise exempt, after May 19 will earn a spot in the field at Oakmont.

Niemann finished at 17-under for the week, earning him the $4 million top prize.

For the third straight event, Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs GC took home the first-place team prize of $3 million.

Mixed results

The all-South African Stinger GC team had a mixed tournament in Singapore, finishing sixth out of the 13 sides.

Louis Oosthuizen fared best with a tie for fifth-place finish on 9-under par which earned the Mossel Bay-native $613 500 (R11.1 million).

Charl Schwartzel ended joint-14th on 5-under par which earned him $287 000 (R5.2 million).

After a couple of stand-out performances, Dean Burmester had to be content with a T29th finish on 1-under par which was good enough for a $170 000 (R3 million) pay day.

Branden Grace brought up the rear for the Stinger GC outfit with a T41st finish on 3-over par, but still banked $130 333 (R2.4 million) for his three-day effort.
