
Knowledge Musona makes U-turn on retirement
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Knowledge Musona makes a U-turn on his international retirement and rejoins the Warriors…

In a surprising turn of events, former Kaizer Chiefs player Knowledge Musona has come out of international retirement to rejoin the Zimbabwe national team.
The 34-year-old stepped away from national duty in May 2022. According to Soccer 24 Zimbabwe, Musona retired as he chose to focus on his club career. He also wanted to create opportunities for younger players.
Warriors head coach Michael Nees persuaded Musona to return to the team. Musona has decided to rejoin the squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.
Knowledge Musona’s International Career
Musona played for the national team for 12 years, earning 54 caps and scoring 24 goals. He cemented his place as one of Zimbabwe’s top talents.
Currently, he plays for Saudi Pro League side Al Okhdood, where he continues to showcase his skills.
More Veterans Return Under Nees
Musona’s return follows that of fellow experienced players Khama Billiat and Washington Arubi. Billiat had previously retired from international football, while Arubi had been out of the squad after losing his place.
These key players have returned to the squad, strengthening the Warriors. They aim to deliver a strong performance in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
Who is Knowledge Musona joining in the squad?
The squad features Washington Arubi (Marumo Gallants), Marley Tavaziva (Brentford), and Martin Mapisa (MWOS FC) as goalkeepers.
In defense, Jordan Zemura (Udinese), Divine Lunga (Sundowns), Gerald Takwara (Al Minaa SC), Munashe Garananga (FC Copenhagen), Isheanes Mauchi (Simba Bhora), Peter Muduhwa (Scotland), Godknows Murwira (Scotland), and Emmanuel Jalai (Dynamos) are included.
The midfield consists of Marshall Munetsi (Stade de Reims), Andy Rinomhota (Cardiff City), Marvelous Nakamba (Luton Town), Tawanda Chirewa (Huddersfield Town), and Knowledge Musona (Al-Okhdood).
Leading the attack are Prince Dube (Young Africans), Tawanda Maswanhise (Motherwell), Terrence Dzvukamanja (Supersport United), Tymon Machope (Scotland), and Walter Musona (Scotland).
