Head coach Nasreddine Nabi hit back at critics after Kaizer Chiefs lost 2-1 away to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday afternoon. Nabi explained that his decision to stay with Kaizer Chiefs was motivated by his love for the club, emphasising that his passion for the team outweighs any financial incentives.

Nasreddine Nabi cut a frustrated figure as Amakhosi lost their second successive league game.

“I’m not the problem. I’m not here for the money. There’s a lot of talk in the media about my salary, but I can tell you that I receive offers from big clubs every day, with salaries three times higher than what I earn here.” Coach Nabi told the press after the loss.

“I have a mission here with Kaizer Chiefs. I’m not here for the money, and I love this club. I am strong. I don’t lose my confidence quickly like that because my history is big.” He stated.

His assistant coach, Cedric Kaze, then intervened and provided a translation for Nabi, whose English is audibly patchy.

Nasreddine Nabi Believes He Will Get It Right

“I’m willing to sacrifice everything to bring Kaizer Chiefs back to where they belong. Criticism is part of the job, but when fellow coaches criticise you, it shows a lack of respect,” Kaze said, translating for Nabi.

“Especially when you are in a bad situation, that’s a lack of respect. That’s what impacted me, not the rest, but being criticised by your colleague who can be in your shoes or who has been in your shoes.

“But I do believe, and I have a strong formation and strong experience, I know what I’m doing, and I will get it right.” The Tunis elaborated.

Despite the loss, Kaizer Chiefs remain in 8th place in the Betway Premiership, with a crucial match against Magesi FC coming up. The team must secure a win to maintain their position and ensure participation in the MTN 8 next season.

With the current form, Kaizer Chiefs face challenges to achieve their goals for the season. Will the team be able to secure a place in the MTN 8 and push for further success?
