The only for people to get to know you is for you to post what you believe.
Some people will agree with you and some will insult you.
Just like in real life you choice is up to you if you decide if this the right place for you.

 

Yes and no. The difference between forum and chat is chat is live and rolling where as forum is stable. In all practicallity, we do treat this more like a chatsite. A forum usually doesnt promote discussion but only comments on specific subjects. In chat you have to be continuously on site to keep up. In forum you can leave and come back later and not be concerned you missed something.

Agreed, but what does that have to do with the moderators in here being different, they are that way simply because they do not have to be online constantly. Usually a new citizen waits until he/she is naturalized and learns the lay of the land, before they begin to call for a constitutional convention.

 

There is where the failing happens is if people disagree they insult. As adults why can't people disagree respectfully? That would increase membership and posters who are already here would talk more. Did peoples mothers not teach them if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all? They run out of ways to debate and therefore lower themselves to insults but that doesn't make it so that they won the argument. Most of us live in multiculturalism and everyone has a right to be here until they break the rules. In real life if someone disagrees with me I am still accepted and treated with respect to go where ever it is that we had the disagreement so your logic is a bit warped. Your basically saying this is an old boys club.

 

As I said above, mods should be identifiable to seek assistance from and other help. If you dont know who to ask then how do you find out? FAQs are ok but rarely cover everything. Being easily identified wouldnt require being here constantly. People have started whole new threads just to get information on how to do things.

Regarding citizenship, we are members from the moment we sign on. Equal voices, equal rights and all. No green card required. No visa, no passport. Its the "old guard" mentality that makes everything hard on newbies. Calling my insights on this a call for a constitutional convention is over reach. Im not doing that. All Im doing is making suggestions based on my experiences here. The topic is in regard to how newbies are treated by this "old guard". Im still rather new so my oppinions are fresh and undeluted.

-if there was a thread like "today in the history of GD" haha, or something in that vein, i would totally browse it to the ground lol. why? because of how you guys described those past members...when i drifted in, lurking in the background , i didnt realise i was reading threads that were years old, it all just seemed so "alive"

once i realised, it took a while to sink in that these people that got so quickly familiar, were for one reason or another actually long gone...it is sad.

we do post as individuals. i ask you though, together doesnt a room discuss/talk/play as a group? otherwise isnt everyone just having a rant?
so if someone goes into a room with the only aim of expressing their own views, where there are people discussing somthing, isnt it likely that person will be ignored eventually?

maybe i should clarify that a little more, i think there is a difference between a "hidden" id, which is what we all are since we dont post our real names and info... and a "deceptive" id where someone pretends to be someone that they are not. i dont know how much anyone would get out of being lied to all day or for how ever long that conversation kept going, but is it worth it if its all just crap? i dont think so, do you?

I think I could... We are all socks... We all post under an assumed name...Hide behind a comfortable mask of anonymity. It's this environment that enables people to play different characters.

This in itself I don't see as a problem. It's when there are sinister intentions that it becomes a problem.

If the simple minded folks can't adjust to their new environment, (meaning this forum), perhaps they need to find a forum that fits their mind set.

I have been here since '08, and have not had an ounce of problem with it. This forum does not need a changin'
