With only one log position and one point separating the Stormers and ninth-placed Ulster on the URC table, the battle in Belfast on Friday is expected to be epic as the Capetonians look retain their place in the top eight.

The clash kicks off at 21:35 (SA time), with the Irish hosts desperate to displace the visitors and leap into the top half of the table.

However, John Dobson’s side would undoubtedly have taken confidence from their 29-17 away win against the Scarlets last week and will look to build winning momentum ahead in their final tour match in Belfast.

They will be wary of the hosts, though, who have scored two more points on attack this season and who are keen to make the most of their home ground advantage and build on their last win at Kingspan Stadium – which also happened to be against the Scarlets.

The Stormers will draw inspiration from the fact that their defence has been superior so far this season, but with both teams having won six of their 13 matches and a place in the top eight up for grabs, the match could come down to the wire.

Adding to their motivation, the Capetonians have won three of their last four outings against Ulster, although all of them were at home, while they will want to make amends for the heavy 35-5 defeat they suffered against Ulster the last time the teams crossed paths in Belfast.
