‘Why is Percy Tau still playing for Bafana Bafana?’

Percy Tau once again had a poor outing in Bafana Bafana colours during the team’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho on Friday evening.

The 30-year-old has been in poor form since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). After his poor Afcon campaign, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns forward was dropped from the team by Bafana coach Hugo Broos hoping he might find form at his club.

Unfortunately for Tau, his form at club level also dropped and he was benched by Al Ahly for much of 2024. The “Lion of Judah” left the Red Devils this year but has yet to rediscover his old form that saw him play in the UEFA Champions League.
