Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates can only play each other if they reach the CAF Champions League final having avoided each other.

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have avoided each other in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals
The draw was conducted at the Qatari capital of Doha on Thursday evening. Both teams were handed tricky draws but it will be the Sea Robbers who will feel comfortable having avoided Masandawana early in the competition.
The Buccaneers finished top of their group with 14 points and went undefeated. The last time Pirates were in the quarter-finals of the competition was back in 2013 when they ended up runner-ups.
Orlando Pirates to travel to Algeria in the CAF last eight
Having finished top of the group, Orlando Pirates could only play three teams which finished runner-ups. The teams were MC Alger, Mamelodi Sundowns and Pyramids.
Sundowns on the other hand struggled in the group stages but ultimately finished second in the group to reach yet another quarter-final of the CAFCL. They face a side that knocked them out of the CAF CL semi-final last year.
With the draw conducted, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates can only play each other if they reach the CAF Champions League final if they go all the way.

Mamelodi Sundowns vs Esperance
MC Algers vs Orlando Pirates
Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have never faced each other in any of the CAF competitions. The two are amongst the four strongest teams in the competition and could meet each other in the final if they win their quarter-final and semifinal matches.
