Magesi FC reportedly pulled the plug on fringe Kaizer Chiefs defender Bongani Sam despite huge interest in him.

As reported on The South African website on Tuesday, Magesi FC were keen on acquiring Sam’s signature on loan.

Now, SABC Sport reports that the proposed deal fell off on transfer deadline day despite Sam completing his medicals.

And the main reason behind the failed move is that Magesi FC failed in their attempt to offload a few of their players.

That coupled with the fact that Magesi FC still had to pay a portion of Sam’s monthly salary made it impossible for them to sign him.

Sam, 27, is yet to make his debut for Chiefs despite joining the club during the off-season as one of the first signings.

MAGESI FC PULL OUT ON DEAL TO SIGN KAIZER CHIEFS DEFENDER

“There has been a huge twist in the deal that would have seen Kaizer Chiefs defender Bogani Sam join Betway Premiership counterparts Magesi FC,” reads part the report.

“SABC Sport on Tuesday reported a deal had been agreed between the two clubs for Sam to spend the rest of the 2024/25 season on loan at the topflight rookies.

“However, word reaching the public broadcaster’s desk is that Dikwena Tsa Meetse pulled the plug on the move at the last minute on Tuesday evening.

“It is understood that Magesi were keen on landing the former Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows full-back for the next few months, with the player even having completed a medical in Johannesburg prior to his trip to Limpopo.

“The reigning Carling Knockout champions instead notified Amakhosi that they no longer have room for Sam, after they were unable to offload a few players of their own before the transfer deadline, while having to also pay a portion of his salary.”

WILL NABI FINALLY HAND SAM HIS DEBUT?
