Al Ahly set to leave Percy Tau R10 million richer!
Percy Tau is set for a big pay day after reports that he has agreed to part ways with Al Ahly six months before his deal expires
Al Ahly and Percy Tau are set to part ways amicably if the latest reports prove to be accurate.
On Wednesday night this publication reported that Tau and Al Ahly had agreed to a contract termination.
Tau and Al Ahly set for termination
According to SuperSport journalist Karabo Phasha Tau will be paid out by Al Ahly who will also issue a waiver. This will see an end to the Bafana Bafana’s star’s stay at the club of the century, having joined in 2021. He was recruited by his former coach at Mamelodi Sundowns Pitso Mosimane. Thiswith the club paying big money to English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion for his services.
When Mosimane left Al Ahly, Tau had a tough time and was out of favour for a while under a new coach. He eventually gained favour again and started firing on all cylinders. So much so that he was rumoured to have been offered a huge contract extension. Reports claimed the Red Devils were willing to make the South African the most paid player on the continent. That eventually turned into a reduced offer to a no offer in little to no time.
Tau has been at loggerheads with both Al Ahly and the coach Marcel Koller which resulted in reduced game time. That has now led to the reported termination. According to Soccer-Laduma he will receive close to R10 million from the Egyptians.
Bafana star set for R10 Million pay out?
“Percy Tau is reportedly on the verge of leaving Al Ahly after agreeing to a $500,000 (±R9.4 million) settlement to terminate his contract. According to Cairo24, the South African forward, 30, rejected the club’s attempt to sell him and instead requested to have his contract terminated, seeking the full remaining value of $600,000 (±R11.3 million). However, after negotiations, a lower payout of $500,000 (±R9.4 million) was reportedly agreed upon, allowing Tau to depart.” Wrote the publication citing Egyptian reports.
