Can Kaizer Chiefs fork out R183 million to claim their target man?

Kaizer Chiefs will have to pay R183 million if they are to bring in the Tanzanian talented midfielder.

The Glamour Boys have been linked with Azam FC star Feisal Salum for months now. In previous reports, it was rumoured that the 26-year-old playmaker rejected a new deal with the Tanzanian outfit.

In an interview with Soccer Laduma, Azam FC media officer Hasheem Ibwe revealed that Salum’s buyout clause was around R183 million.

“When we say he is not for sale, we mean he is not on the market because he still has a running contract with the team. But if any team approaches Azam with the interest to trigger the buyout clause which he has then that won’t be a problem.”

Kaizer Chiefs target to be released at R183 million

“For the local teams, the buyout clause is $2.5 million but for any team from outside Tanzania, the buyout clause is $10m. We cant stop a team that wants to pay the buyout clause and that’s where we stand. That’s how much we value the player,” Ibwe said.

The R183 million buyout clause might be too much for a team like Kaizer Chiefs or even mega-rich Mamelodi Sundowns. As good as Salum is, there’s no guarantee he will be an immediate hit in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Sundowns, who were also eyeing the talented midfielder, appear to have given up on the chase. The buyout close of R183 million will keep teams like Kaizer Chiefs away but top European teams will pay that in a heartbeat.

Which team do you think Salum will join next?
