Club gives HUGE hint Bafana star is set to join Kaizer Chiefs soon!
Kaizer Chiefs are set to announce two signings in the coming days but could that quickly become three with the latest big developments?
Kaizer Chiefs could be one of the busiest teams during the January transfer window, after the latest reports.
Chiefs are set to announce two forward signings by the end of next week at the very latest.
Last week it was reported Chiefs had reached an agreement for the signing of SuperSport United striker Tashreeq Morris. The lanky targetman is set to arrive at Naturena in a swap deal that sees Christian Saile go the other way. That was not the end of the forward agreements though as DRC international Glody Lilepo is set to join too.
Chiefs set to add three forwards to their side
On Tuesday evening, this publication reported that Chiefs had reached an agreement with Valenciennes FC to sign Lilepo. It was also claimed that the DRC international winger himself now has a pre-agreement with Amakhosi. He is expected to fly to SA soon for his medicals. The Glamour Boys will also reportedly give teenage striker Naledi Hlongwane a three-year deal and a chance with the seniors.
Furthermore, a fourth addition could be on its way to Chiefs, if one can read between the lines. Bafana Bafana international and long-term target Thabo Cele has recently become a free agent. This after his Russian side FC Fakel Voronezh announced the termination of his contract for personal reasons. In statement from the club, there was a big hint as to where his future could lie.
Cele available on a free transfer
“Due to serious health problems in the family, the midfielder and the club terminated the contract. According to the agreement between Cele and the club, the footballer will only be able to play for teams from South Africa until the end of the current contract. We wish the player good luck in his future career, and health to Cele’s family. All the best to you, Thabo!” Wrote Voronezh’s statement.
The statement clear states that Cele can only play for a team in South Africa until June 2025. The team that has constantly been linked to the player is Chiefs. The Soweto giants have had a multitude of pursuits of the player’s signature. The form SA U23 international has also professed his love for the club and his wish to play for them one day.
Club statement hinting at Amakhosi move?
Chiefs have reportedly been in the market to improve their midfield. They cannot be expected to pass up on an opportunity to sign one of their top targets for free in January. All signs point to Cele becoming a Glamour Boy at least on a short-term deal.
