Following a hot-and-cold start to the season, Kaizer Chiefs FC are set for a big January shake-up.

Tunisian tactician Nasreddine Nabi joined the Glamour Boys with high expectations at the beginning of the season, however he doesn’t have much to show for after six months at the club.

Chiefs were humiliated by rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout Cup, and have also struggled to pick up any momentum in the league.

With growing frustration amongst the fanatical Kaizer Chiefs fan-base, a lot is expected from the club in the upcoming January transfer window.

Kaizer Chiefs coach looking to the future

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has confirmed that no less than three reserve team players will join the first team in January!

While two players remain anonymous, star striker Naledi Hlongwane has been confirmed as one of the new recruits!

“In our project, there’s a very good collaboration within the club, especially with the coach of the younger teams, the U23,” Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi said as quoted by FARPost.

“It’s a process and we get reports every week, every two weeks about the players that can come train with the first team. That’s why after the new year there are going to be three players that will be joining the first team to train with them.“

“It’s been a process and we want to go through the process not to get emotional because someone scored two goals in a friendly game and then suddenly he can play in a big club like Kaizer Chiefs”

In other related news, Kaizer Chiefs FC’s management already have one eye on next season.

The Glamour Boys have struggled to get going under Nasreddine Nabi and it’s clear they need to reinforce his squad for him.

Kaizer Chiefs welcomed a host of new players at the beginning of the season. Bongani Sam, Fiacre Ntwari, Bradley Cross, Rushwin Dortley and Gastón Sirino all signed on the dotted line at Naturena.

Furthermore, Njabulo Blom returned to the club on a loan deal from parent club St Louis City.

Chiefs take big Blom decision

According to the latest reports, Kaizer Chiefs have decided to trigger their permanent option on Njabulo Blom.

Blom’s loan deal comes to an end in June however Kaizer Chiefs have an option to make the deal permanent, and management are now set on triggering that buy-out clause.

“You know in a loan deal there is either an obligation to buy at the end of the loan deal or an option to buy,” – an insider told Soccer Laduma regarding Njabulo Blom’s situation at Naturena.

“So Kaizer Chiefs have an option to buy when the loan deal expires and that is the one they are taking up. They feel that a fully fit Blom is a great asset to the club and the technical team is happy with what they have seen so far.

“Management is now working on that buyout clause from St Louis City. So, it will first be agreeing on buying then Chiefs will offer him their own new contract. But they are already working on buying for now.”

The publication further claim Njabulo Blom is not keen on returning to St Louis City.

Should Naledi Hlongwane be thrown into the deep end?
