Feisal Salum rejects new deal, is a move to Naturena next? Let’s find out.

Salum, a name frequently linked with Kaizer Chiefs, has reportedly rejected a new contract extension from Azam FC. This decision fuels speculation that the talented midfielder could be on the move at the end of the 2024/2025 Tanzanian Premier League season.

The 27-year-old Tanzanian playmaker has attracted interest from South Africa for some time, with both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns reportedly eager to secure his signature. In July 2024, Sundowns made a bid for Salum, but Azam FC turned it down, as the offer failed to meet the club’s R36 million valuation.

Chiefs eyeing Salum as Azam’s offer rejected

With Chiefs maintaining their interest, Azam FC attempted to lock Salum down with a new three-year contract extension. However, according to Africafoot.com, the midfielder refused the offer, signaling his intent to explore new opportunities.

“Feisal Salum has made his decision and informed the club that he will not extend his contract,” a source revealed to Africafoot.com. “He is enjoying his experience at Azam, a big club, but he wants to explore new opportunities at the end of the season.”

Could Salum be Kaizer Chiefs’ next big signing?

Salum’s decision has heightened speculation about a potential move to Naturena. While no deal is confirmed, insiders suggest that Chiefs remain a serious contender for his services.

“A move to Kaizer Chiefs? It is still too early to say for sure, but it is a very serious possibility,” the source added.

From Young Africans to a rising market value

Salum joined Azam FC from Young Africans SC in July 2023 for a fee of €69,000 (R1.3 million). Since then, his value has surged, with Transfermarkt now estimating him at €150,000 (R2.8 million). His decision to reject a contract extension puts Azam in a tough spot—risk losing him for free or cash in before his deal expires.

With Chiefs and Sundowns monitoring the situation closely, Salum’s next move could shape the upcoming transfer window. Will Kaizer Chiefs secure his signature, or will another club swoop in?
