Former Sundowns star reveals coaching plans after rehab
This was a special talent. Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Lerato Chabangu has shared his plans when he exits from an alcohol rehabilitation centre.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Lerato Chabangu is in rehab to overcome his drinking addiction at the Hope of Achievers Rehabilitation Centre in Ga-Mothapo, Limpopo.

Chabangu’s first time at a rehab centre was sadly not a success. However, the 39-year-old from Tembisa has returned to seek a better future for himself. The former Sundowns attacker said he was making decent progress at the start of March. What’s the latest update?
“I never coached before, but from time to time, I would give input to local teams [in Tembisa]. I also like analysing a lot when I am watching football on TV and share opinions with the guys,” the former Sundowns star told FARPost‘s Ofhani Munyai about his plans. “Obviously, I can’t be a chooser. I will take anything and see where it takes me. I will upgrade day-by-day or when the time comes. So when the opportunity comes or whatever door opens, I will grab it.”
“So the interest has always been there, but just one of those things that I need to work on and see where it takes me. I have learnt so much in my whole career, and I can say I have a lot of experience that a lot of people might want me to share. More especially the young ones, I think I would consider that when I come out of rehab,” Chabangu added.
The former Sundowns number eight concluded: “But I will see when I come out. I will be busy with a coaching course when I come out and see where it takes me. But I will be around football-wise.”
