Kaizer Chiefs have made it no secret that they’re looking to sign a striker to bolster their attack in 2025.

With the January transfer window now open, Chiefs are reportedly hard at work trying to sign a goal scorer.

Chiefs linked to del Campo

Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported by this website that Chiefs were searching as far as Europe for a solution. This is after claims that they had started talks to sign Switzerland youth international Ruben del Campo. What would be an advantage to Amakhosi in this deal is the fact that he would be coming as a free agent. This after being released by his former club in Canada

Now according to the latest reports, Del Campo is not the only striker they’re inquiring about. Soccer-Laduma suggests that Chiefs have been offered Ghanian striker Jonathan Sowah. Indications are that the club are seriously mulling over a deal!

Now offered Sowah

“For now, they are not sure which striker they are getting or not. It is kind of hide and seek. And not they are monitoring and enquiring about Jonathan (Sowah). There are a number of players – mainly strikers that the club is looking at. It has its priority according to what the coach wants but some of those top on the list are out of reach due to finances and that’s why they have to look at different alternatives and Jonathan has come up right now.

Each team has scouts who identify players according to your needs at that particular time and that’s why they have offered Jonathan Sowah to Chiefs because the club needs a striker who can help them score goals. They have discovered that they can create chances but the main problem is finishing and this is one striker the scouts believe can help in that department, hence they have recommended him to the club,” said the source to the same publication.

Should they sign him?

Sowah currently plays for Libyan topflight side Al Nasr Benghazi. His contract at the club only expires in December this year. This means Chiefs would have to pay a transfer fee. He is also a Black Stars international, having made his debut against Liberia in 2023. Amakhosi fans, should the club take a chance on him? Or do you want a more proven and recognisable name?
