‘He is not fast’ – Galaxy coach assess ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender
TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic has given an update on former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana defender Sifiso Hlanti.
TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic has explained why the club has yet to sign former Kaizer Chiefs defender Sifiso Hlanti.
The 34-year-old veteran left-back has been training with The Rockets with the hope of landing a deal. He left Amakhosi in June last season and has been a free agent ever since. He was recently linked with a move to Richards Bay but nothing materialised.

“When he came, I knew him because of many games I analysed when we played against Chiefs. I know him, he’s left back, not so fast, what we expected but also he needs to fix some tactical parts and also fitness is very important to fix now because he came he’s not ready to play because he had a huge gap between two clubs and I think seven months is not easy to replace,” Beganovic told SABC Sport.
Hlanti said he was blindsided by Amakhosi in June when the club decided against extending his contract. His agent Sizwe Ntshangase said Kaizer Chiefs told the defender that he would be assessed by the new coach Nasreddine Nabi in July.
“Chiefs didn’t engage with me about not renewing Hlanti’s contract but they met with him directly. The team told Hlanti that he served them well this season in the last week of the games, but they said they will have to wait for the incoming coach to come to assess him and make a decision,” Hlanti’s agent said last year.
It remains to be seen if Galaxy will sign the former Kaizer Chiefs defender in the coming weeks.
