How Kaizer Chiefs can avoid big score defeat to Sundowns
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mokete Tsotetsi says Amakhosi need to do certain things to avoid big score defeat against Sundowns.
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mokete Tsotetsi has explained how Amakhosi can avoid another big score defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The two teams play each other for the third time this season at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Downs have won their last two meetings and have dominated the fixture over the years.
Having lost 2-1 in the Betway Premiership in September, Amakhosi played the Brazilians again a month later in the Carling Knockout quarter-finals hoping for revenge but were hammered 4-0.
Tsotetsi said it would be a challenge for Kaizer Chiefs to beat Sundowns this weekend.
“This is a tricky one. If you check some of the last few games, Chiefs have not been doing much. Now they are facing Sundowns and they have built some momentum after losing to TS Galaxy a few weeks ago. So, this is going to be a challenging one for Chiefs, who are still building under the coach [Nasreddine Nabi],” he told SNL24.

Tsotetsi says Chiefs have a small chance of winning if they can close spaces and make it difficult for Downs to play.
“Chiefs’ game plan on the day will be important. They would not want to lose by a big score again, so it will be important to apply themselves, especially in defence. They should deny Sundowns space and time on the ball. We all know that when Sundowns has time and space on the ball, they are dangerous because they understand each other. There are a lot of movements that make it difficult for teams to contain Sundowns. If Chiefs can do that, then they have a chance to win this one or take one point away from them.”
Kaizer Chiefs have conceded 11 goals against Sundowns in the past three meetings. A clean sheet for Amakhosi will without a doubt give them confidence.
