HUGE BLOW: Season over for key Kaizer Chiefs star
Not ideal.

Kaizer Chiefs have been over-reliant on young players and that’s finally come back to bite them this season.
Dortley out for the season
According to Goal.com, 22-year-old central defender Rushwin Dortley needs to undergo knee surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2024-2025 campaign. Dortley has been a near ever-present for Amakhosi in his debut campaign after a move from Cape Town Spurs, appearing in 18 of their 20 Betway Premiership matches. To say that his absence will be a massive blow is a huge understatement.
Azam reveals Salum’s release clause
Via Soccer Laduma, Azam’s Media Officer Haashim Ibwe has mentioned a $10 million (R183 million) release clause attached to 27-year-old midfield schemer Feisal Salum. Chiefs will, however, be hoping that his current deal winds down and they can snap him up on a free transfer. His wage demands will be another stumbling block though. Currently, he wants in the region of R220k a month to stay with the Tanzanian giants beyond his current contract.
Depleted Chiefs prepare for the Citizens
Amazingly, Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has picked up four bookings this season so won’t be in the dugout for their clash with the Citizens. Second choice keeper Brandon Petersen was dismissed against Stellenbosch in a recent encounter so he’s also suspended. Samkelo Zwane and Tashreeq Morris will play no part, and we also know Dortley is out for the season. Edson Castillo is not quite 100% match fit either. Young striker Wandile Duba is back in training but this match comes too soon for the 20-year-old.

How will Kaizer Chiefs deal with this massive blow?
