Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has marked another achievement that makes him an absolute legend at the Buccaneers.

JOSE RIVEIRO MARKS 120 ORLANDO PIRATES MATCHES

Following his 120th match in black, Riveiro said his appreciation goes out to the club’s management.  “I have to say thank you to the management of the club for being patient with me, with the coaching staff, with all of us to, year after year, keep growing as a team and as a group and pushing this project forward,” Riveiro said via Sowetan on his time with Orlando Pirates since July 2022.

SURPRISE RALANI ON FAILED BUCS MOVE

Orlando Pirates’ former superstar Thembinkosi Lorch was the reason Surprise Ralani never became a Buccaneer.

“I spoke to the chairman, [Dr] Irvin Khoza, in person, but the move to Pirates never materialized,” Ralani told Andile Ncube on Metro FM’s Sports Night Amplified, as per iDiski Times. “During the last six months, Lorch was on form at Chippa and was younger than me and they decided to go with him.”

ORLANDO PIRATES TO SIGN STELLENBOSCH FC DEFENDERS?

It sounds like Orlando Pirates mean business next season, especially in central defence.

According to Soccer Laduma, the Sea Robbers are looking at Thabo Moloisane (26) and Olivier Toure (27).  “As far as defenders are concerned, Pirates’ main target is Thabo (Moloisane), and that’s why they are set to table an offer for him,” a source told the outlet. “They are looking at strengthening the central defence as they are looking at having a strong backline next season where they will compete in almost all the competitions, including the CAF Champions League. Moloisane has grown as a player. He i playing in Africa with Stellenbosch and Pirates are looking at that as an advantage to sign him. You know the club is also looking at right back and left back,” the source concluded.

On Toure, the source said:  ”He [Toure] is still on the club’s (Pirates’) radar, and it’s just a matter of when the club will be taking the interest forward by making a formal offer,” a source said to the publication. “If you look around the league, you will notice that he is one of the reliable and consistent defenders, and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed as interest in his services is growing,” he concluded.
