‘Kaizer Chiefs admire Mamelodi Sundowns star but can’t afford him’

Kaizer Chiefs are set to welcome two forwards this window but one prolific striker was not a possible signing in their wildest dreams

Kaizer Chiefs are set to bolster their attack with two new forwards but a different name could’ve been added too.

Chiefs are set to finalise deals for striker Tashreeq Morris and winger Glody Lilepo as they tackle 2025 and beyond.

Chiefs set to sign Morris and Lilepo

There’s been a long list that features the likes of Fiston Mayele, Clement Mzize, Lungelo Nguse and Ruben del Campo! It was also believed that Chiefs were looking to get rid of DRC attacker Christian Saile to open a foreign spot. In the end he was used in a swap deal with SuperSport United for the Morris deal. Now last week, it was also reported that Amakhosi were not finished bolstering their frontline. It was said that they were chasing the services of another DRC international in Lilepo

On Tuesday evening, this publication reported that Chiefs have reached an agreement with Valenciennes for Lilepo. It is believed that player himself has a pre-agreement with Amakhosi! Now with the search thought to be over, it could’ve been a tad bit different under different circumstances.

According to Soccer-Laduma, although Chiefs admired Mamelodi Sundowns star Peter Shalulile, they acknowledged he would be too expensive for them.

Sundowns’ Shalulile too expensive

“No, Chiefs could not move for Peter (Shalulile). Not even if he was a free agent. You know, when a player like Shalulile comes as a free agent he is even more expensive because of the signing on fee and the big salary that he comes with. But as you know, Chiefs have a limited budget and that could not be close to buying Shalulile. I heard his price tag is R75 million. Which team in South Africa can go for such a player? Tell me,” said the source to the same publication.

Chiefs fans would you have loved to have Shalulile at your club? Or did you already acknowledge that he was out of reach as a target? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below!
