Kaizer Chiefs in hot pursuit of Salum: Azam reveals price tag
Chiefs are in hot pursuit of Feisal Salum, but Azam FC has made it clear what their fee is. Will they meet the price or walk away?

Kaizer Chiefs are in hot pursuit of Feisal Salum, as Azam FC reveals price tag.
Chiefs will have to dig deep into their pockets if they want to secure the services of Salum. Azam has reportedly set a firm price tag of R7 million for the Tanzanian midfield maestro, according to Rwandan sports journalist Eric Ndagijimana.
Chiefs remain in direct negotiations with Azam, as head coach Nasreddine Nabi pushes to bring Salum to Naturena. Despite the hurdles, talks are allegedly ongoing, and Chiefs are expected to intensify their efforts to finalise the deal.
Salum’s Rising Stock in African Football
Feisal Salum, currently showcasing his skills for Azam FC, has emerged as one of the most sought-after midfielders in the Tanzanian Premier League. The 27-year-old playmaker was the league’s second top scorer last season and has continued his impressive form in the 2024/2025 campaign. His consistent performances have drawn interest from multiple top clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs and Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
During the mid-season transfer window in January, both Kaizer Chiefs and Simba SC attempted to sign Salum. However, Azam FC held firm, refusing to part with one of their key players. Despite their stance, recent developments suggest the club may reconsider if a lucrative offer is presented.
Ndagijimana reports that Azam FC is now open to negotiations, provided their valuation is met. Although discussions between Kaizer Chiefs and Azam FC have reportedly taken place, no official bid has been submitted yet. With Thabo Cele already added to the squad, Nabi is determined to reinforce his midfield further, and Salum appears to be a top priority.
Nabi and Salum’s previous connection could be key
Nasreddine Nabi’s history with Feisal Salum could play a significant role in the transfer saga. The two previously worked together at Young Africans, where Salum flourished under Nabi’s guidance. Their strong relationship could be a decisive factor in convincing Salum to make the move to South Africa.
Despite growing speculation, Azam FC are also adamant that Salum is not for sale. In a firm response to the rumours, club media officer Hasheem Ibwe dismissed any possibility of an imminent transfer.
“If there is any player we are willing to keep, even with our lives, it is that guy Feisal,” Ibwe stated.
“We have never opened any talks with any club because he is not for sale. Feisal Salum has another 17 months on his contract with Azam. He is not going anywhere as we are making sure that we keep him. We renewed his contract because we need him in the team. He is an important part of the team.”
Will Chiefs meet Azam FC’s demands?
With the transfer window still open, the ball is now in Kaizer Chiefs’ court. If the Glamour Boys are serious about landing Feisal Salum, they will need to match Azam FC’s asking price. Will Chiefs break the bank for their top target, or will Azam FC stand firm on their no-sale stance?
