Kaizer Chiefs boss Nasreddine Nabi always seems to be on the brink of a crisis. Here are his next five fixtures.

Kaizer Chiefs fixtures on the horizon

A clash with Chippa next weekend represents the club’s last opportunity to win silverware in the 2024-2025 campaign. Chiefs last won a trophy in 2015 when they became champions of South Africa.

Usuthu and Moremi frustrate Chiefs

24-year-old Tshepang Moremi was a scorer in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Chiefs. The winger is a long-standing target for the Glamour Boys. Nabi’s team are 14 points off the title pace being set by Sundowns and they’ve played three extra games. The most realistic route to silverware this season appears to be in the Nedbank Cup. Amakhosi face Chippa in the Round of 16 of that competition on Saturday 15 February. Amakhosi are still stinging from Soweto Derby defeat at the weekend too, after succumbing to Patrick Maswanganyi’s cheeky panenka penalty deep into stoppage time.

Is Nabi living on borrowed time?

New signing Tashreeq Morris’ effort in the 18th minute went down as a Ramahlwe Mphahlele own goal. Tshepang Moremi, a man mentioned as a Chiefs target, equalized for Usuthu in the 23rd minute. Elmo Kambindu put them ahead on the hour mark. New boy Glody Lilepo’s back post header was awkwardly fumbled into his net by Richard Ofori in the 63rd minute to earn a share of the spoils for Chiefs. They now sit fifth in the table. Head coach Nasreddine Nabi is under huge pressure to deliver some type of tangible success for the club this season. However, fans in several comments sections aren’t convinced he’s the man for the job.

Predicted Chiefs XI vs Stellenbosch

This potential starting XI would see Yusuf Maart and Pule Mmodi coming out of the side for Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Mfundo Vilakazi. New boys Tashreeq Morris and Glody Lilepo were both heavily involved in Chiefs’ goals against AmaZulu and could get another chance to impress. Meanwhile, the directness of Vilakazi would be useful against Stellies. Interestingly, Kaizer Chiefs have won on each of their last two Betway Premiership visits to the Winelands club so they’ll travel with some confidence.

Bvuma; Frosler, Miguel, Dortley, Cross; Mthethwa, Cele; Lilepo, Shabalala, Vilakazi; Morris.
