Kaizer Chiefs look set to sign two attackers during this transfer window in a desperate attempt to save their season.
Chiefs are currently fifth in the Betway Premiership, with a Soweto Derby against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates their next league game.
Chiefs set to announce Morris and Lilepo
According to the latest reports, Chiefs are set to announce the signings of Tashreeq Morris and Glody Lilepo. The former is set to join Amakhosi in a swap deal from SuperSport United. The other side of the swap sees DRC forward Christian Saile leave to join Matsatsantsa.
On Tuesday evening, this publication reported that Chiefs had reached an agreement with Valenciennes FC to sign Lilepo. It was also claimed that the DRC international winger himself now has a pre-agreement with Amakhosi. He is expected to fly to SA soon for his medicals.
Now according to Soccer-Laduma, that won’t be the end of the attacking business for Chiefs. They’re now set ton promote young striker Naledi Hlongwane and give him a three-year senior deal.
Hlongwane set to add to the senior attacking options
“What I can tell you now is that the promotion process is as good as done. They have already allocated jersey number 35 to him (Hlongwane) and he traveled with the team to Durban for the game against Sekhukhune United. It was thought that he was supposed to have played in that game but they changed the decision in the last minute. Yes, coming to the contract, it’s an initial three-year senior team contract and it will run until June 2028. So, yes, things are working out for the youngsters at Chiefs right now,” said a source to the same publication.
Hlongwane rose to stardom after scoring a brace for the All-Stars against Magesi FC. The player himself said that he would be ready to play for the Chiefs first team should he get the call. This publication also reported recently that he was one of three players coach Nasreddine Nabi called to senior training.
With Hlongwane seemingly closer to a first team debut, is the timing correct from Chiefs to promote him? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
