Kaizer Chiefs offload ex-Pirates defender without kicking a ball

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly loaned out Bongani Sam after the former Orlando Pirates player failed to get game time this season.

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly loan out former Orlando Pirates defender Bongani San.

The 27-year-old defender was brought in before the start of the season but the left-back was injured during pre-season. Sam has fully recovered form injury but has not been given a chance by Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi.

With Bradley Cross and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe preferred at left-back, it makes sense why Kaizer Chiefs offladed the defender.

“Kaizer Chiefs are understood to have agreed a loan transfer for defender Bongani Sam to join Magesi FC until the end of the season,” SABC Sport reported.

“The 27-year-old has been working tirelessly to break into the line-up and impress Nabi enough to finally make his debut. But he will now leave without being able to convince the Tunisian mentor to put him to the test.”

Amakhosi unveiled three new players last week as they look to boost their squad in the second half of the season. Thabo Cele, Tashreeq Morris and Glory Makabi Lilepo are three of the new players the club unveiled before the January transfer window closes.

Kaizer Chiefs have struggled for consistency this season failing to match rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. With the Nedbank Cup still to play for, Nabi’s men might aim to target the competition.
