Kaizer Chiefs news: R180 million fee; Saleng to AmaKhosi?

Kaizer Chiefs are whiskers away from making a dream signing. The Soweto giants face Richard’s Bay next on March 16.

Kaizer Chiefs lured ten players last offseason; the same could happen in the upcoming winter window.

The Soweto giants are linked with an array of African stars, including Michael Olunga, Prince Dube, Siphephelo Sithole and Feisal Salum; AmaKhosi don’t have the financial means to sign each of these stars, but it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that big names will arrive in the coming months.

Nasreddine Nabi has recently vocalised his shift in transfer strategy following months of unsuccessful negotiations with rival clubs; the 59-year-old coach believes their chances of signing players are greater overseas.

“We know the competition, it’s hard to sign players from other clubs in South Africa for us, so we need to change our strategy and we have a new strategy in management for that,” Nabi confirmed

“It’s not for me to talk to you about it, but the club, we have a new strategy that we are working on. After this window, we will maybe look outside, another country for other players.”

One African superstar Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing is Azam midfielder Salum, who the club values at R180 million; however, with the Tanzanian international turning down a contract extension he is due to become a free agent from July.

Saleng to stay in Soweto?

While there’s no official enquires, Kaizer Chiefs will presumably be monitoring the ongoing Monnapule Saleng-Orlando Pirates saga.

While the move would be controversial, likened to Carlos Tevez’s move from Manchester United to Manchester City, staying in Soweto may be Saleng’s desires, making this a perfect fit as Chiefs look to add more attacking firepower to their squad.

Should Kaizer Chiefs get Saleng?
