Chiefs news: Gaston Sirino, Sundowns, Mashiane’s Nabi review
Kaizer Chiefs have a lot on their plate. Their upcoming clash is against league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who are in fine form.

Kaizer Chiefs face South African soccer’s biggest test on Saturday: Mamelodi Sundowns.
It was a rough last outing for Nasreddine Nabi’s men, pummelled 4-1 by SuperSport United at home. To make matters worse, former AmaKhosi players Samir Nurkovic and Christian Saile delivered the first blows of the evening, the latter answering Chiefs one and on only goal after three minutes.
Another big blow was Gaston Sirino’s red card, meaning he won’t feature against the league leaders on Saturday, a club he knows all too well, winning seven league titles together.
Kick-off: 15:30
Sundowns supremacy
The Brazilians lie fifteen points ahead of the Orlando Pirates – who have four games in hand – and are becoming runaway favourites for winning their eighth successive league title; domestic dominance likened to Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
Mashiane back in Nabi’s good books
“Things are apparently look good for Happy [Mashiane],” SoccerLaduma confirmed.
“Not just for this season but even further as the coach is now believed to be putting trust in him in that left-hand position. Coach Nabi is happy to have him for a longer time,” they added on the Chiefs coach.
“That has also brought confidence to him as a player. Yes, his contract is running until June 2026, that means this gives him hope that may not be loaned out or released soon. The coach is happy with him and that is very important for the player.”
However good Mashiane is getting, Kaizer Chiefs remain fixated on Basadien.
“They are still looking at signing another left back in the next transfer window period and their main target is Stellenbosch FC left back Fawaaz Basadien,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.
