Kaizer Chiefs selling their sole surviving ‘winner’
TIme to say goodbye?

Kaizer Chiefs are willing to cut ties with a player who won the league with them back in 2015.
Kwinika’s time with Kaizer Chiefs is up
Kwinika, astonishingly, is the only remaining player in the Chiefs squad who was with the club when they won the league in 2015. Loan him out for the rest of the current campaign and the club will save R2.22 million in wages should his new club take that salary on board, as is customary.
“Zitha Kwinika’s future at Kaizer Chiefs has become increasingly uncertain, with the 31-year-old defender now facing an exit from the club. Sources close to the player have indicated that he could seek a move before his contract expires in June. A loan switch is the most likely option. It is understood that there is interest in Kwinika’s services from clubs in Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal. His future at the club seems increasingly bleak, and a move away before the end of his contract appears to be a realistic possibility.”

A new-look defence at Chiefs
Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel arrived at the start of the campaign. They’ve become Nasreddine Nabi’s first-choice pairing in the centre of defence. At best, Kwinika is the fourth or fifth choice in that position, with Given Msimango preferred while Dortley is sidelined with a knee issue. Yes, Kwinika is versatile and can fill in at right-back, but it’s unlikely he’ll play any minutes.
Kwinika’s Kaizer Chiefs salary isn’t justified
Earning a reported R370k a month, that’s an expensive benchwarmer. Reports back in July indicated new boss Nabi wasn’t satisfied with what he saw from the defender in Turkey, and those reports have turned out to be true. Kwinika, astonishingly, is the only remaining player in the Chiefs squad who was with the club when they won the league in 2015. Loan him out for one season, and the club will save R4.44 million in wages should his new club take that salary on board, as is customary.
Khune says he’s the goat
Instagram and TikTok’s blind ranking trend sees people name their top five or top ten in a category. The twist? They only get given one name/concept/brand at a time, without knowing what the others are. Recently, Itumeleng Khune was asked to do this with the best goalkeepers ever to grace the PSL. He placed Ronwen Williams at the top of the rankings, only to change his mind when his name came up later in the challenge.
When asked why he regards himself as South Africa’s best-ever goalkeeper, Khune said:
“I’ve worked hard, won trophies, and made my mark in South African football. I respect all the other great keepers on the list, but I’ve earned my place at number 1!”

Should Chiefs have let go of Kwinika sooner?
