Kaizer Chiefs set to add promising playmaker to their squad
Kaizer Chiefs are looking to continue to bolster their first team squad with a playmaker who is set to join on a three-year deal.
Kaizer Chiefs are looking at continuing their tradition of giving players from their academy a first team opportunity.
Over the last decade, the Chiefs conveyor belt has been back up and running, producing quality for their first team.
Just in the current Chiefs senior team, there are quite a number of names that show the club’s clear pathway. Njabulo Blom, Happy Mashiane, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Bruce Bvuma among the older generation now. Below them are the likes of Mduduzi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi. There has also been talk of striker Naledi Hlongwane being the latest to join that group.
Chiefs have a reputation for promoting youngsters
If that is to be the case, Hlongwane will be accompanied by his playmaker at DDC level, Siphesihle Tati. Tati was training with the first team towards the end of last season. He also went on the pre-season tour to Turkey. He dropped out of football activities at the start of the season as he opted to focus on his studies. It now looks as if he is ready to recommit to the game. According to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs are also ready to commit to giving him a three-year contract with the first team.
“They (Chiefs) were looking at signing at least one more attacking midfielder but the team’s scouts and the youth technical team have now recommended that Tati be promoted instead as he already understands the club culture and he can easily fit into the team. The only thing I am not sure and I don’t know is whether it will be now in the last half of this season or next season. But all the logistics for his promotion has been finalised and just like Naledi Hlongwane, Tati is set for promotion to the senior team. And it’s because of this that the club is offering him a three-year deal. They are convinced that he he has what it takes to be part of the team and help it in some way hence the three-year contract is worth it,” said the source to the same publication.
Tati up next?
