Kaizer Chiefs target another goalkeeper and an ambitious transfer move.

Chiefs are taking decisive steps to strengthen their goalkeeping department, with Zambian shot-stopper Toaster Nsabata emerging as a prime target. Sources have confirmed Chiefs’ interest in the former Sekhukhune United goalkeeper, who now plays for Zesco United.

“Yes, Chiefs have inquired about Toaster (Nsabata). You will remember him at Sekhukhune United. He is one of the best goalkeepers that the team can look at, and they are convinced that he can help the team in these difficult times,” a source disclosed.

Competition for Nsabata’s signature

Currently the first-choice keeper for both Zesco United and the Zambia national team, Nsabata has consistently delivered standout performances. The 31-year-old’s 34 appearances for Sekhukhune United between 2021 and 2023 cemented his reputation as a reliable presence between the posts. Now, his excellent form with Zesco United and the Chipolopolo has made him a hot commodity.

“He is currently part of the Zambia national team and Zesco United’s first-choice keeper. Chiefs believe he could be a valuable addition as the team seeks to bolster its goalkeeping department,” the source added.

Kaizer Chiefs are not the only team eyeing Nsabata. TS Galaxy and Magesi have also shown interest in acquiring his services, making this transfer pursuit a potential battle among Premier Soccer League clubs.

Swiss striker del Campo also on Chiefs’ radar

In an exciting development, Chiefs are also targeting 24-year-old Swiss striker Rubén del Campo. Known for his lethal finishing and creativity, del Campo has caught the attention of Chiefs as they intensify their search for attacking reinforcements this January.

A product of Atletico Madrid’s prestigious youth academy, del Campo showcased his scoring ability last season in Canada. While playing for Atletico Ottawa, the left-footed forward netted 14 goals and provided three assists in 33 matches. His performances highlighted his ability to consistently find the back of the net and contribute to team play.

Adding to his appeal is del Campo’s extensive international experience. With 26 caps for Switzerland’s youth national teams, he brings a blend of maturity and potential. As a free agent, del Campo offers Chiefs a cost-effective opportunity to enhance their squad without incurring a transfer fee.

Chiefs’ ambitious plans for the transfer window

Chiefs’ active pursuit of Nsabata and del Campo reflects their determination to revamp their squad and reclaim dominance in South African football. With their sights set on high-calibre players in key positions, Chiefs are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for success.
