Kaizer Chiefs to return to transfer target they rejected?
Kaizer Chiefs could be ready to go back in for a reported target they rejected in the previous window despite being offered for the cheap…
Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be ready to dip into the upcoming January transfer market for reinforcements.
This could also see Chiefs go back to sign a player that they reportedly rejected during the previous window.
During that previous window, Chiefs signed seven players in the hope of rejuvenating the squad ahead of the new season. Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley, Fiacre Ntwari, Inacio Miguel , Gaston Sirino, Bradley Cross and Njabulo Blom. But that seems to have not proven to be enough as the team find themselves in 9th position with just three wins from nine games.
Chiefs still struggling in goalkeeping department
One of their big problems last season was a leaky defence. That was not aided by the uncertainty surrounding the goalkeeping situation. Captain Itumeleng Khune was punished for indiscipline while both Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Pietersen failed to convince. When they failed to take their opportunity Chiefs then went and signed Ntwari. The Rwandan international has also not convinced and has lost his place in the team.
While Chiefs were pursuing Ntwari, they were also reportedly chasing Stanley Nwabali of Chippa United. They were believed to have been competing with arch rivals Orlando Pirates for his signature. In the end neither signed him, as reports Chippa Mpengesi had outpriced him from the South African market. Mpengesi did come out later to say he had been willing to sell the Nigerian international to Amakhosi on the cheap.
Nwabali a target again?
Now according to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs are ready to go back in for an offer to Chippa for Nwabali in January!
“Chiefs are interested in Nwabali again. Expect the club to push hard in pursuit of his signature this time around. The team’s defensive record is worrying for the technical team and management, and they will be using the next few weeks to work on a possible solution,” said the source to same publication.
Chiefs fans, would you be happy to have Nwabali sign for the club? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
