The two giants face each other on Saturday evening at the FNB Stadium in the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals. Both teams lost their Betway Premiership games this past weekend to SuperSport United and Polokwane City respectively.
Sundowns have already defeated Chiefs this season in a league encounter which ended controversially. Amakhosi opened the scoring thanks to Ranga Chivaviro’s goal inside the opening 10 minutes. The Brazilians equalised in the 31st minute before Iqraam Rayners made it 2-1 six minutes later.
Kaizer Chiefs thought they earned themselves a draw late on but their goal was ruled out which infuriated their fans. Five weeks later, the two teams will once again renew their rivalry in the Carling KO.
