Kaizer Chiefs zero in on new top forward as the search heats up.

Chiefs are intensifying their hunt for a prolific striker ahead of the upcoming season, with an inside source confirming renewed interest in Yanga SC’s Zimbabwean forward, Prince Dube.

A well-placed source at Naturena has revealed that Dube has emerged as the club’s primary target after difficulties in securing other sought-after strikers.

“The club is evaluating the realistic chances of signing a striker, and as things stand, Prince (Dube) looks the most promising option. The other strikers they have been eyeing, such as Michael Olunga and Fiston Mayele, appear difficult to secure, which is why attention has shifted to Dube. He’s also performing well for Yanga at the moment,” a source told this publication.

Striker and left-back signings a Chiefs priority

Kaizer Chiefs’ technical team has made it clear that securing a top striker and a reliable left-back are at the top of their transfer agenda.

“There are other positions the club wants to reinforce. But the striker and left-back positions are at the top of the agenda. The striker they are currently focusing on is Prince Dube from Yanga in Tanzania,” the source confirmed.

Dube, 28, boasts previous experience in South African football, having played for SuperSport United. His impressive international record includes 12 caps for Zimbabwe, with seven goals to his name. A attribute that makes him an appealing prospect for Chiefs as they aim to bolster their attacking force.

Coach Nabi claps back at Pitso’s criticism

In other news, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has fired back at critics, particularly Pitso Mosimane, following recent comments.

Nabi, undeterred by the backlash, emphasized that he remains a highly sought-after coach with multiple offers from top clubs. His defiant stance follows Chiefs’ narrow 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in a Betway Premiership clash at a packed Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Lucas Ribeiro’s lone strike sealed Sundowns’ third consecutive victory over Chiefs this season. However, rather than dwelling on the result. Nabi appeared more frustrated by what he called “disrespectful” remarks from fellow coaches in South African football.

Despite the setback, Nabi remains optimistic about the team’s progress, highlighting their performance as a sign of improvement.

With Chiefs ramping up efforts to sign Dube and Nabi standing firm in the face of criticism. The upcoming season promises to be one filled with bold moves and high expectations.
