Mamelodi Sundowns transfer news: Who’s in and who’s out?
Mamelodi Sundowns always box smart in every transfer window, and they should definitely be happy with the business they’ve done in January.
The January transfer window has slammed shut in South Africa, and Mamelodi Sundowns took full advantage of it.
The Brazilians do not usually go full steam in their mid-season transfer dealings but they always get what they want.
And this was the case during the recently closed transfer window as they managed to seal a few deals to bolster their squad.
The Brazilians also managed to release some players who found game time hard to come by in the first half of the season.
After all, Sundowns have been dominant both on the domestic front and continentally, meaning they did not need to make wholesale changes.
They are top of the Betway Premiership log and they are also in through to the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League.
Now, The South African takes a look at who Sundowns signed and which players they let go in January…
WHO’S IN AND WHO’S OUT AT MAMELODI SUNDOWNS?
Sundowns kicked off their January transfer window by bringing in long-term target Jayden Adams from Stellenbosch FC.
He was followed by centre-back Keanu Cupido from Cape Town City on PSL transfer deadline day.
South American defender Lucas Suarez was reported to have agreed a deal to join Sundowns on loan.
However, there has been no official word from Sundowns regarding Suarez’s acquisition, and it could be that the club didn’t conclude the deal.
Meanwhile, Sundowns did let go of FOUR of their players in Lesiba Nku, Lebohang Maboe, Abubaker Nasir and Rushine de Reuck.
Nku joined Stellenbosch FC on a permanent deal while Maboe, Nasir and De Reuck were all loaned out.
Both Maboe and Nasir joined SuperSport United while De Reuck moved to Israeli outfit Maccabi Petah Tikva for the remainder of the season.
There is still one pending deal which involves Thembinkosi Lorch. The 31-year-old is heavily linked with Wydad Athletic Club.
